Half day
Be captivated by the multiethnic character and historical wealth of the Mother City.
Cape Town is a rare cultural gem from the amalgamation of different nationalities of settlers and indigenous tribes. A harmonious blend of architectural styles has been meticulously preserved alongside high-rise office blocks, including Edwardian, Victorian and Cape Dutch. Narrow cobblestone streets, multicolored houses and the Islamic character of the Bo-Kaap enhance the cosmopolitan ambiance. The itinerary takes you to the Greenmarket Square – a historical square in the centre of old Cape Town; the Castle of Good Hope – this pentagon-shaped fort is the oldest surviving building in South Africa; the Company's Garden – a large public park, originally a vegetable garden established in 1652 by the Dutch East India Company led by Jan van Riebeeck, to feed the settlement as well as passing ships; and to the first national museum founded in 1825, housing African collections of zoology, paleontology and archaeology.
